Body Filler
Body filler or Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that doctors inject beneath the skin to increase facial volume, smooth lines and creases, and/or enhance facial contours.
Book an AppointmentSome of the most common areas of the body for filler injections include:
Upper arms: As you get older, you will inevitably start to notice sagging skin on your upper arms. Fillers can improve this concern by stimulating collagen and correcting laxity. The result is smoother, more youthful-looking arms.
Above the knees: Wrinkles and lines above the knees are more common than you may think. Many patients visit Miami Skin & Vein because they feel that these wrinkles make their legs look
older. Fillers are a simple solution that can smooth and tighten the skin around your knees.
Chest: Creepy skin and wrinkles are incredibly common on the chest. Unfortunately, the skin in this area is thin and prone to sun damage. Fillers can address these signs of skin aging by effectively evening out the skin on your décolletage.
Doctors inject fillers during an office visit. You will first meet with your doctor to discuss your concerns and desired goals.
PRE-TREATMENT
During your consultation, your doctor will evaluate your area of concern and review your medical history. You need to disclose your medical history completed before treatment because certain allergies, skin and neurological conditions, and medications can put your safety or results at risk.
You need to tell your doctor if you have been taking aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or blood thinners because these increase the likelihood of bruising.
DURING TREATMENT
The area will be cleaned before injection, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area. Many filler products, like Hyaluronic Acid fillers, also contain lidocaine, which is a mild anesthetic intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. Your doctor will then inject a specific amount of filler strategically beneath the skin.
Depending on the product and the areas treated, you should be able to notice results immediately after receiving filler injections.
Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and should subside within a few days following treatment. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment, but your doctor may ask you to refrain from exercise or other strenuous activity for 24 to 48 hours.
